The Police Athletic League (PAL) of Tampa, Florida has been in operation since 1956. From 1956 until 1961 PAL was managed by the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). In 1961 management was awarded to the Tampa Police Department.

PAL serves more than four thousand young people from the Tampa's communities who otherwise may bit be able to participate in after school programs and activities.

PAL, in partnership with the Law Enforcement Community, is committed to the idea that there are no bad children only those who lack responsible direction and positive role models.

PAL of Tampa is funded by public donations through solicitation and operated by a board of directors comprised of members of law enforcement and the business community.

Nationally, PAL organizations serve more than 200,000 kids. PAL of Tampa is one of the oldest and largest in the State of Florida. Alumni of PAL are prominent businessmen and women in the Tampa community. Several have gone on to national recognition and membership in institutions such as the NFL's Hall of Fame.
